"Michi na ki Michi", the Path Without a Path.
Of all the disciplines within Hirakawa Ryu only Jujutsu is formed around a modern system of ranks and belts; all other disciplines are based upon a much older training regime. Therefore, all new students will begin with Jujutsu.As the student learns and develops within the modern framework of Jujutsu they should also attain the skills, attitudes and concepts needed in order to begin in the older disciplines. Where this is the case, the older disciplines will be added.
So as one begins their path within Hirakawa Ryu one can expect a straight and narrow course, but as one progresses there may appear many side paths, parallel paths and stops along the way until the path one follows is truly "pathless".
